Dive Charters

Based on personal experience, we can recommend the following dive charter boats, in no particular order!

Tutukaka and the Poor Knights, New Zealand

The Poor Knights are a marine reserve, and offer fabulous fish life, great viz, and therefore great photography. One of our favourite locations. Also, just off the Tutukaka coast are two purpose sunk wrecks - the Tui and the Waikato. Both excellent dives, and frequented by all the listed charter operators.

Yukon Dive & Fishing Charters

Yukon run a very friendly ship. The skipper, Noel is a bit of a photographer himself, so he knows what's what when it comes to looking after photographers.

Pacific Hideaway Charters

A large catamaran offering a huge, completely dry lounge as well as capacious dive deck, so very good for photographers. Try one of their live-aboard weekends for getting maximum diving done!

Dive! Tutukaka

The largest dive operation in Tutukaka with an international presence so get quite a few tourists as well as Kiwis. They run mostly large boats, but their high staffing levels and very organised approach means that the number of divers does not impact on your diving.

Crayzee Diver

A very quick boat, gets you out to the Poor Knights in a claimed 25 min. Superb for those who find the boating part of diving less than inspiring!

Outer Hauraki Gulf including Great Barrier Island

Outer Gulf Charters (Goat Island Dive)

We haven't been out on Brian's latest boat, but from what we've seen, its a great looking dive platform. Brian can show you the amazing diversity of diving in the Hauraki Gulf: the list of dive sites is too numerous to mention here! Some trips also take in the Poor Knights.

The Alderman Islands

Dive Tairua

Dave and Donna run a great operation in Tairua. The Aldermans offer some excellent diving and photography opportunities - in our experience on a par with the Poor Knights.
