Sony P150 Package
Package Features
The Sony P150 takes very good pictures underwater, and offers a range of manual control
whilst being very easy to use.
- The Sony P150 is a very 'fast' camera: it focusses, and stores pictures into its memory quickly. The camera is ready for you to take your next photo very quickly after you have taken the last one, and once it is focussed, there is negligible delay between pressing the shutter button and your picture being taken (i.e. minimal shutter lag) which lets you capture the action as you see it.
- 7.2 megapixel camera - allows you to 'zoom in' on pictures more than lower megapixel cameras, which means you don't have to get as close to small subjects in order to get a detailed picture of them. Also, pictures can be printed at sizes up to A3.
- The shape of the housing and the layout of the controls makes the rig very easy to handle underwater - one handed shooting is possible, leaving your other hand free to steady yourself.
- The combination of good battery endurance and large storage capacity means that in general you will be able to use the camera for two dives without having to recharge the battery or transfer pictures.
'Point and Shoot' photography
The Sony P150 can be set up in a fully automatic mode where all you need to do to take a photograph is press the shutter button. That's as easy as it can get!
The camera offers you two additional controls that are useful for point and shoot photography:
- Flash: can be turned on, off, or left in auto mode (i.e. the camera decides)
- Macro: in macro mode, the camera is able to focus on very close objects, great for pictures of small fish, nudibranchs, coral, plants, and close up shots.
Advanced photography features
If you want more control over the camera, the Sony P150 offers a number of modes and control features in addition to the fully automatic mode described above. These features include:
- Focus mode control: two auto focus modes - multi point and centre spot focussing, as well the ability to set the focus manually. With these tools at your disposal, you will be able to help the camera focus in even the most difficult situations.
- Exposure control: Either apply exposure compensation, or take complete control over both aperture and shutter speed settings. Additionally, you can control the equivalent ISO 'film speed'.
- White balance: The Sony P150 offers a range of white balance presets in addition to the auto mode.
